Definitely, their best album to date the duo of Baby Rasta and Gringo
have a sound all their own, no one else sounds like them and very few
come close to the level of excellence that they achieve in "Sentenciados"
Variety is the word of the day when it comes to describing their style,
in the flip of a coin you get pure hip hop, salsa beats, dub and dancehall.
The rhymes are as varied as their beats, with straight out "tiraera"
(MC battle) styles tracks that glide alongside cuts with sharp social
commentary. Add to that, a strong presence of purely sex theme tracks
and you have the complete reggaeton experience. There
is no filler in this record, all the tracks are a pure joy to listen.
"Yo Soy Asi" captures their energy with a bumpy hip hop beat
that sounds as if it will go on forever. With Rasta providing choruses
that are melodic to a fault and Gringo spiting out some of the best rhymes
you'll hear this year. Watch out for non-stop "perreo" (dance)
tracks like "Te Quiero Ver Desnuda" and "Provocame"
and the offbeat romantic remix of "Sentenciados Por Ti". No
longer the underdog this record made stars out of Rasta y Gringo and caused
such a stir in the reggaeton scene that it was re-released with extra
tracks. Prove that it pays to take risks "Sentenciados" sublime
musical blend of styles puts it along side Tego Calderon's "El Abayalde"
in the classics category. This is the record that will put Baby Rasta
y Gringo over the top.
