When it comes to style and influence, Tempo is second only to Vico C.
Credited with bridging the gap between hip hop and reggae, Temp brings
an edge of danger to his unique rhyming. Tempo's original style sets the
template for most of today's top rappers. "Exitos" is much more
than a greatest hits, this record offers a definite overview of Tempo
at the height of his skills. Much of his early works, show the influence
of the California label Death Row Records implementing the P-funk style
hip hop made famous by Dr Dre. In addition,Tempo's rhymes are full of
streetwise tales of a life lived on the wrong side of the tracks. His
love for all things "Gansta", combined with an uncanny ability
for storytelling, quickly made him the number one underground favorite.
Tracks like "Amen", are among the best in the history of hip
hop, with killer hooklines that grab the listeners heart as true hip hop
originals. His love for reggaeton is evident in the superb dancehall fest
of "Las Gerlas Remix" which moves and shakes with a level of
energy unparalleled in the dancehall movement.

Post script regarding Tempo's sentence & appeal:
As the story goes, just as Tempo was about to sign with an American record
label, he was arrested and incarcerated. Now, doing over twenty years
at a federal prison in Puerto Rico, his future is remains uncertain. An
appeal is underway and he may once again see the light of day. If such
is not the case it would be a shame to see his talents go to waste. For
now enjoy him for what he once was. With vocals capable of crafting the
perfect rhyme, these sixteen trailblazing tracks are indispensable for
anyone with the slightest interest in the history of reggaeton.
